About Me

Welcome to ‘Becky in China’!

My name is Becky 🙂

The girl behind the writings

I am a 26 year old, self-confessed chocoholic and cat-lover from rural Wales, and I caught the travel bug sometime during my university years. I guess all that ‘studying’ and being cooped up in small-town Wales, combined with a second-year field trip abroad, gave me itchy feet. Upon leaving university I did a volunteering stint abroad, and now, some years down the line, I am living in abroad with my wonderful boyfriend (see photo insert for a display of our couple-cuteness), teaching English to the future genius’ of China (and of course, all my students are genius’.).

Together we have taught in two different cities in two different regions of China, and are currently based in Hebei province, in the northeast of this vast country. This blog, aptly named ‘Becky in China’, will show you the places I have been in China and a few other countries I have travelled to.

I know that one day, I will leave China and move onto the next destination. Which will, on that day, make my name choice obsolete. However for now, while I build it up, I think it’s appropriate.

Join me on my travels and let me know what you think!

Cue the ‘aww’s’ and ‘ahh’s’ at our couple-cuteness.

I also love to write. I read everything I can about travel and places around the world, and it is my dream to see them all and write about them. If even one person gleans even a tiny amount of inspiration from reading this little blog, then I will be happy.

  1. Interesting to read about your teaching in China. I have been teaching here in Germany for 45 years now, mainly EFL but also computers and opera appreciation. I’m one of those who like to sleep late and work late, so I am now teaching mostly evening courses.
